We like to open Christmas presents over several days, so that the kids can enjoy all of their gifts. We started with gifts from the Joys (my mom's family) on 12/19, then gifts from the Archibalds on 12/21, gifts from Shawn's family on Christmas Eve (like they did growing up), gifts from us on Christmas morning, and then we did Christmas with my family the day after Christmas (when they got here)!
